We are all very familiar with that moment when you finish a great show and you are sad that there aren’t any more episodes to watch. After you pick yourself up and you start looking for a new show, you realize that you’ve watched everything! If that is you, we have the list for you! This is a list of some of our favorite hidden gems that will get you hooked from the first season (or only). Most of the shows on the list are lighthearted and will have you laughing the whole time.
1. The Great (Hulu):
If you like history and comedy, this show is for you! This show will have you laughing the whole way. The Great is set during 18th century Russia and it follows the life of Catherine, a woman who “has no say” in anything but is trying really hard to make a difference. The main characters of this show are full of personality and the plot will have you choosing sides. There is only one season but the show was renewed for a season two this summer.
2. Everything’s Gonna Be Okay (Hulu):
If you love quirky comedy, this show is for you! Everything’s Gonna Be Okay is about three half siblings who lost their dad to cancer and the oldest son volunteered to take care of his half teenage sisters. Nicholas has to navigate being a good brother while being a parent figure for his sisters. There are ups and downs throughout the show but like the title says “everything’s gonna be okay” in the end. These characters are full of life and do not let obstacles get them down. There is only one season out but the show has already been renewed for a season two!
3. Solar Opposites TV-MA (Hulu):
Do you love Rick and Morty but don’t want to wait until the next season comes out? Solar Opposites is by the creators of Rick and Morty. This show is about a family of aliens who had to leave their perfect planet because it was hit by a meteor and has to take refuge on Earth. Throughout the first season you see the family trying to blend into their environment or trying to get away for some. This show will make you laugh!
4. Atypical (Netflix):
This heartfelt comedy will give you some insight on the life of a person on the autistic spectrum. The series follows Sam throughout his life while trying to make sense of the world around him. He teaches the viewers and his family some valuable lessons. Throughout the seasons, all the characters are in their own journeys of love and self discovery. This series is a must! It has heartfelt moments, happy moments, funny moments, and everything in between! There are currently three seasons out now.
5. 21 Thunder (Netflix):
Ever wanted to watch a show that was like Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill but with a lot more soccer and also Canadian? Who am I kidding, of course you have! 21 Thunder tells the story of the Montreal Thunder, a professional men’s soccer team in Canada. The main character is the star striker Nolan Gallard, who is trying to balance his soccer career with his girlfriend Emma, all the while trying to escape his shady past. Another great character is Christie Cooke, a former Olympic soccer player for Canada struggling to be accepted as a coach of a men’s soccer team and overcome sexist stereotypes. This show is fantastic and criminally underrated!
